The Anti-iPhone 5 Ads That Plagued Apple Fanboys
There is an old Chinese proverb that states: “The tree that stands above the others gets blown down.” Well it makes so much sense in the tech industry, especially if we’re talking about fruity trees like, say, Apples! Just a few days after Apple started to sell iPhone 5, rival smartphone companies were also coming up with new tactics to lambast the tech giant’s new phone. What are these anti-iPhone 5 ads that have been circulating around the net making Apple fanboys seethe with rage? Check these out:
Samsung’s It Doesn’t Take a Genius Ad
It’s probably because of the results of the patent trial in California that Samsung is going all out on their campaigns against the Cupertino-based giant (though we could be wrong on that, Samsung could just be plain aggressive here). Just a day after the announcement of the sixth generation iPhone on September 12, the Korean company ran their “It doesn’t take a genius” ads on Twitter and in national papers showing the differences between the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 and then some. The said ad quickly made it to the world of tech news and has instantly ignited a cyberwar between Android-Galaxy fans and Apple addicts. What’s in the ad? Let’s just say Samsung took the freedom to list all the features announced for the iPhone 5 and compared it to a longer list of features for the Galaxy S3 and then capping it off with a “The Next Big Thing Is Already Here” statement. If you haven’t seen enough of it to sell your iPhone, here’s the photo:
A Nokia Fan’s Heavyweight Champion Ad
It’s a lot like the Samsung ad in design (which we think Samsung wouldn’t be too happy about if they found out) with a slight difference. Instead of comparing the iPhone 5 to Galaxy S3, the fans compared it with the also newly released Nokia Lumia 920. The list is actually longer than the original Samsung ad. The ad was titled: “Flyweight contender, meet the heavyweight champion.” The title was based on the fact that the Lumia 920 smartphone is 73 grams heavier than the iPhone 5 which Apple declared is the lightest iPhone they have ever had. And though this ad is clearly not from Nokia, (what with the disclaimer at the bottom of the photo, it did raise a lot of iPhone fan eyebrows. Here’s the photo:
Motorola’s Droid Does and iLost Ads
Rising up to deride the newest iPhone is the now Google-owned electronic company Motorola. The company also ran a couple of anti-iPhone campaigns, comparing their Motorola DROID RAZR M to the sixth generation iPhone. Unlike Samsung, though, the company downplayed the hate by simplifying their numerous ads. Motorola’s commercial stuck to featuring a couple of features that the iPhone doesn’t have, labeling them as “iDon’t” which was followed by a “DroidDoes” feature that sets the two smartphones apart. The said company also launched the “iLost” print ads that mock the new iOS Maps app that has reportedly been having problems lately. Here’s that ad:

Harsh? Actually, this ad not only
spurred other smartphone fans into action, it even resulted in a lot of
parodies and spin-offs like…

Two Great Options for People With No Money for the iPhone 5
Update Your iPhone 4S to iOS 6
Still locked up in a two-year contract with your iPhone 4S? You don’t need to defy all odds just to have the iPhone 5 experience. Apart from the bigger screen, thinner body and smaller charging dock, you can still get a hands on experience of the iPhone 5 by updating your iPhone 4S to iOS 6, the operating system of the sixth gen iPhone. The free update is available starting today for all kinds of mobile Apple devices including the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS (so if you’re an ancient iPhone 3GS user, you don’t need to sell iPhone 3GS). The iOS 6 update is also applicable to owners of iPad 2 and the new iPad as well as those who have 4th generation iPod Touch. The iOS 6 will have the Siri updates we’ve all been waiting for including sports updates and restaurant reviews. It also has an improved FaceTime that can now be used over cellular data. To update your iPhone’s software all you have to do is go to Settings, then tap on General and tap on Software Update.
Sell Your iPhone and Buy The New One

On the other hand, if you really want an iPhone 5 but don’t have the means to get it you might as well sell your iPhone and use the money you get from it to buy the newest iPhone! There are tons of places to sell used iPhone units. You can try to advertise your iPhone on eBay (provided that it still looks and works like a new iPhone) or Craigslist and other auction sites. You can also try to sell your smartphone to refurbishment companies like Cash for iPhones. These companies buy iPhones and recycle them as new iPhones!

Why Analysts Say Enterprises Should Wait for the iPhone 5
Now that the iPhone 5 is out, financial and tech analysts
are pooling their thoughts together regarding Apple’s next generation
smartphone. Financial analyst, Gene Munster at Piper Jaffray said they are
expecting the tech giant to sell iPhone 5 aggressively perhaps reaching 6 to 10
million units for its first week in the market. Is it possible? Will the iPhone
5 really be a much greater hit than the iPhone 4S? Tech experts say it could be
possible if Apple catches the big fish in the throngs of people waiting to see
their next iPhone offering.
The Big Fish
Though hardly making it through the quarter, RIM’s
BlackBerry smartphones still dominate the enterprise market because of its
strong security features and simplicity. And since the BlackBerry 10
smartphones remain uncertain at this point, analysts are saying Apple better
have something really, really good up their sleeves to catch the meatier part
of the market.
And why not? For years the tech giant has been advertising
to sell iPhone to the younger generations. In fact, 43 percent of the iPhone’s
market is made up of young people from 18 to 34 years old. Also, a more recent
survey from PaidViewPoint showed that 31 percent of current iPhone owners who
are excited to sell iPhone 4 or 4S for an iPhone 5 are from the same age group
(18 to 34 years old).
And while these marketing strategies proved to be very effective
in making the iPhone a worldwide phenomenon, analysts say it is about time the
tech giant start reinventing their smartphone to make it more business savvy for
businesses.
What’s In The Bag?
A part of what analysts say Apple should do for its future
iPhones is to enhance its smartphone capabilities to make it more enticing for
enterprises. Well we’re all hoping to see those enhancements when they start to
sell iPhone 5!
But based on the iOS 6 features Apple promised during the
WWDC 2012 (which we’re pretty sure the iPhone 5 will have), we may be seeing a
lot of business friendly stuff on the next-gen smartphone. For the iOS 6, users
will now be able to use FaceTime even through their cellular network’s data plan.
Busy execs would probably be happy to know that the iPhone maker has also
improved: Siri’s language support; Mail’s interface; and the Map’s graphics. New
iPhone features are sending calls directly to voicemail and preset messages for
iMessaging.
Why You Should Wait
The fourth quarter of 2012 proved to be one of the most
exciting times for the tech world because of the many product releases
happening before the holiday seasons. With the multitude of smartphones present
in the market for enterprises and normal electronics consumers, analysts are
advising everyone to wait for the coming of the iPhone 5 before buying a
smartphone. Erik Eckel from Louseville Geek says, “I recommend business owners
to wait. Even though lines are sure to be long and supply could prove scarce
compared to demand, Apple is riding a prolonged wave of success with almost every
new hardware device it releases.”

iBooks to Read for 9/11 Commemoration Day
Today marks the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 suicide
attacks that shocked the world at large. And since the geek in you would
probably be too busy or too lazy to go out into the streets of New York or to
9/11 memorial museums, maybe you can let your mind wander off for you. An easy
way to commemorate this day is by immersing yourself in the thousands of tragic
and heroic stories that fountained from the casualties of the September 11 attacks.
But since it might be too late now to go to a bookstore and find a 9/11 related
book, you may as well sell old iPhone and just get an iPad where you could read these iBooks:
1. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by
Jonathan Safran Foer – One of the most popular 9/11 related paperbacks of
all time is a novel about a nine year old who finds a key from his father who
died during the 9/11 suicide attacks. Why is it on top of the list? Reviewers
at Goodreads listed it as one of the Best Books of the Decade (2000s) and Best
Books of the 21st Century. But if you’re too lazy to read you can
also sell used iPhone and get an iPad instead where you can watch the movie!
2. Love, Greg & Lauren by Greg Manning – Since
most of the people who were there when AA 11 and UA 175 hit the Twin Towers are
now dead, the best source of information are the survivors themselves and their
relatives. Meet Greg Manning, a loving husband who decided to document his
wife’s recovery from burns that eclipsed 82.5 percent of her body. As he
watches his wife in the ICU, he sent out emails to all their friends and
compiled them to create a book when the storm was over. This book is worthy to sell used iPhone for
because it is one of the very few books that tackled the 9/11 attacks with a
personal and unique angle.
3. Unmeasured Strength by Lauren Manning – But
if you want to try the more personal version of Greg Manning’s story, try
reading the accounts of the survivor herself. This iBook gives you a better
perspective of the life, death and rebirth of Lauren Manning, an SVP at Cantor
Fitzgerald and one of the few survivors of the 9/11 attacks. And while a lot of
reviewers say it’s not a very brightly written book, it’s also one of the very
few accounts of survival during a tragic event in American history.
4. 102 Minutes by Jim Dwyer & Kevin Flynn
– For who are more interested in the timeline of the 9/11 event, you’ll
probably want to sell iPhone 3GS for this iBook. 102 Minutes is an account of the 9/11 attack
from New York Times’ investigative journalists. It recounts the stories from
eye witnesses who saw the 102 minutes of hell that spanned from the first plane
that hit the Twin Towers to the second.
5. Among the Heroes by Jere Longman – Last
but never the least in our list is an iBook about the whole different account
of the horrors of the 9/11 attacks. This book veers away from the Twin Towers
tragedy in New York and shows the stories of the courageous people aboard
flight UA 93 that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The book details the
story of how the passengers and the flight’s crew tried to overtake the
al-Qaeda hijackers by redirecting the flight to a safe, deserted field that
resulted in the safety of the U.S. Capitol.
