App Review: Getting Organic With Your iPhone Using Perfect Produce

Even without saying it out loud we know that obesity is one of the major health problems that American adults are facing today. In fact, the problem with obesity has become so alarming that 2 out of 3 adults and 1 out of 3 children are considered overweight or obese. With the onset of the technological era, people have become more reliant on their gizmos and technologies resulting in a decrease in physical activities. Studies show that only 19 percent of Americans get the recommended amount of physical activities needed by our bodies to keep fit. This is attributed to the fact that aside from people relying on their cars for transportation, people are also becoming more and more reliant to their gadgets for their daily activities.

Don’t worry though, we’re not asking you to sell iPhone 4 just to be free from the risks of diabetes and high blood pressure. In fact, you may as well keep it because it can actually help you make healthy choices through food and lifestyle apps! Doctors and nutritionists all over the world have agreed that you don’t have to starve yourself to death just so you can lose some weight. All you need is a change in lifestyle, and that’s exactly what the makers of Perfect Produce wanted to preach! Perfect Produce is the perfect iPhone app for those who are determined to abandon the fast food lifestyle (which is one of the main culprits for weight increase and type 2 diabetes in the country) to try the organic way of living.

The Pros

The Perfect Produce is a product of SparkPeople, a healthy and wellness website and online community that urges people to take a longer course in life by getting into the organic lifestyle bandwagon. The app is essentially a big directory of fruits and vegetables that includes their nutritional value and their seasonality. The app also shows how to pick the best produce for storing, preparing and cooking. Aside from the healthy dose of information, the app also offers nutritional recipes.

Another thing we love about this app is that all the information it contains is organized beautifully. It’s practically like going into a garden where you can find rows of veggies and fruits that you can easily handpick! The layout is also very user-friendly and can be easily navigated to switch from information pages to selection guides to recipes. You won’t need to sell iPhone 3GS for this app because it costs only $1.99 and runs perfectly on any Apple device with iOS 4.2,

The Cons

While it is now currently situated in the new Food & Drink category in the Apple App Store, we think that the app still needs a few improvements in the recipes section. It would help if they added more recipe ideas for dieters and non-veggie lovers or those who are just starting out with the organic lifestyle. This way, organic dieters would stop thinking about wanting to sell iPhone because of total dieting frustration.

And while Perfect Produce is perfect enough for organic food fanatics, it wouldn’t hurt to add more general information on the origins and appearances of the fruits and vegetables on their list. After all, there are two kinds of grapes and colors of apples right?

The Secrets to Sell iPhone 4S Wisely

Just like your house or your car, your smartphone holds a lot of opportunities for you to not only grow as an owner but to become richer as well. How, you may ask? Wise technophiles have developed this habit of acquiring multiple gadgets that they sell after six months or a year. This way, they not only get the chance to experience the wonders of new technology, it also gives them a few extra bucks for their gadgets. The most common gadget these people cash in on is the iPhone, Apple’s premiere smartphone.

Now that the rumor mill for a new iPhone has churned out some quite believable information, including a September 12 release, people are now scurrying to cash in on their iPhones! But how exactly do you sell iPhone 4S during these times of perplex buying and selling? In this article, we will review the current status of the iPhone market and how to make money out of it!

The Situation: Critical Days for Selling an iPhone

Before you start counting your money in your head, you have to know exactly what it means to sell used iPhone. The first thing every iPhone seller must note is that it’s all about the device and the timing. Studies about the iPhone selling scheme show that when a new iPhone is rumored to be “released soon”, there are trends that follow the churning of the rumor mill.

For example, days after the iPhone 4S was unveiled in an Apple event last October, the resale prices for the iPhone 4 dropped steadily but not so much as to prevent people that wanted to sell iPhone 4 from doing so. When the iPhone 4S was officially released in the market 10 days after the unveiling, the resale prices for the iPhone 4 dropped steadily still but not so much as to raise a lot of eyebrows.

The biggest drop in iPhone 4 resale prices was not in October, but in September while the press was churning out reports of an October 4 release for the ‘purported iPhone 5’ that turned out to be iPhone 4S. The reports were out by September 21 and had prompted a huge demand for an iPhone resale. At this point, people who wanted to sell iPhone 4 found out that their iPhones had lost $70 in resale value.

Plan A: Sell iPhone Now!

While it can be said that we are at the same point as last year because of the rumors of an iPhone 5 release by September 12, the resale prices for an iPhone 4S remains stable. That’s because despite the fact that big iPhone retailers like Target and Best Buy are cutting off prices for the iPhone 4S, the reports of an iPhone 5 release in September remains unconfirmed. Thus, it could be said that the best time for planning to sell iPhone 4S would be today until the end of this month. The best step to undertake now is to prepare your device and keep your ears open for more rumors about the iPhone 5 release!

Apple Biz News: Steve’s House Got Robbed!

Well who would’ve thought that even Apple’s co-founder, Steve Jobs could get robbed! While Apple fanboys all over the world were busy watching the iPhone 5 rumor mill churn, the deceased iPhone maker’s home in Waverley Street, Palo Alto was apparently burglarized. Don’t worry, the guy didn’t steal patents and historical Steve Jobs mementos; we think he decided to break into someone’s house to see if he could steal and sell iPhone 4S. And no, the iThief (as the tech press fondly calls him) isn’t an Apple fanboy who would like to take a tour of the genius’ study room. He actually had no idea it was Steve Jobs’ house! (Well he did find out eventually through a letter he found lying somewhere in the house addressed to Jobs.)

The 35 year old burglar named Kariem McFarlin was arrested on August 2 for residential burglary and attempting to sell iPhone 4 and other stolen property that amounted to more than $60,000. He is now facing charges that could lead to seven years and eight months of imprisonment and half a million dollar for bail in the Santa Clara county jail. The iThief also faces a one year enhancement for “excessive taking of property” and was prosecuted five days after the said burglary.

So how was the iThief arrested? Apparently, it was Apple’s investigators who successfully tracked down McFarlin, a former San Jose State Football player. Police reports stated that McFarlin used the stolen Apple devices to connect to his iTunes account leading the Apple investigators to identify him using his IP address. The police arrested him in his Alameda apartment where they found an iMac, a Mac Mini, a demo-sized MacBook and Apple TV device. The iThief also reportedly gave his daughter one of the three iPads he found in Jobs’ residence and decided to sell iPhone units also stolen from the former CEO’s house. He also took Steve Jobs’ wallet that contained a number of credit cards (including an Apple issued company credit card) and his driver’s license, a soda maker, a Monster Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, a blender and a bottle of fancy champagne.

The police report detailed that Steve Jobs’ home, which was considered a Mecca for techies all over the world, was being renovated when it was burglarized on July 17. McFarlin reportedly entered the Jobs’ residence by climbing a scaffolding and hopping off a 6-foot fence after the construction crew left. He apparently found a spare key somewhere in the garage and walked in to the house finding out it was deserted. Later that night he used Jobs’ MacBook to find out how to sell iPhone and jewelry on Google. The iThief has reportedly shipped the stolen jewelry to Pennsylvania which included a platinum and aquamarine-bead necklace worth $33,000, a platinum necklace with 247 5-carat diamonds and 9 carved aquamarine drops worth $28,500 and a pair of earrings worth $2,950.

The Job’s residence was not the only house robbed in the Palo Alto area. The Silicon Valley community reported a 63 percent rise in burglaries within this year and police are becoming more and more relentless in reminding people to lock their doors and install alarms.

iOS 6 Drops Hints of a Taller iPhone 5 Screen

An observant iPhone addict would probably know that the best way to know if the next iPhone model is on its way to unveiling is by looking into the rumor mill. While it can be said that Apple rumors are the worst sources of information, it still creates a pattern to follow as the time goes by. For one thing, you’ll notice that in the early stages of rumor spreading the details of the story are vague and the sources usually from unknown people who are said to have some knowledge on the tech giant’s plans. As the possible release date comes nearer, iPhone gossip tends to get more detailed, proof-ready and analyst-approved than before. The closer the release date is, the more people are inclined to hear iPhone gossip and sell iPhone 4 or 4S. We believe this is that time of the year; when sources seem very sure of themselves and the press seems very sure of their sources while the rest of the world continues to doubt.

Well here’s a piece of gossip that gives us the impression we truly are getting nearer to the iPhone 5 release. Apparently, people from 9to5mac.com believe they have finally found some proof that the next generation iPhone will have a bigger and taller screen. Apparently, the iOS 6 developer’s kit from the WWDC allows for a scalable setting for a 640 x 1136 resolution display.  The said resolution settings were first rumored last May and were ‘confirmed’ by leaked photos of iPhone housings where the screen is taller horizontally when compared to the iPhone 4S. Bet you’d want to sell iPhone now that the next one is better!

9to5mac reported that they used the iOS Simulator on the iOS 6 developer’s tools at the resolution stated in most early rumors. A comparison of the current iOS 5.1 and the beta versions iOS 6 showed four rows of apps on the home screen for the former. Meanwhile, on the iOS 6, the home screen featured five complete rows for the apps. The site also included screenshots to show the differences between the iOS 5 and iOS 6. The simulator still cannot display five rows of icons clearly and correctly at the 640 x 1136 resolution. While these tests are not yet considered concrete proof that we will be seeing an iPhone 5 with a tall screen, it could be a premise of something better for the unveiling of the next iPhone.

Meanwhile, iPhone addicts are getting ready to sell iPhone 4S anytime now to make way for an iPhone 5. Right now, experts say consumers are slowing down immensely from buying new products as seen in Apple’s Q3 revenue reports. And while it is understandable that people are still savoring their devices for a couple of months until something newer and bigger comes our way, we all have to remember that Apple has a reputation for slashing the process once a new product is launched. If that’s the case, iPhone 4 owners may want to sell iPhone 4, 4S and 3GS right now before they lose value completely.

The iPhone Alternatives for The Shutter Bugs

The reason Tim Cook was listed in the Top 100 Most Influential People and Steve Jobs was in the Top 20 Most Influential Americans of All Time can all be summed up into one word: Apple. We are all aware of how groundbreaking the iDevices were for the Cupertino-based tech company. They giant has managed to create a new line of gadgets that caters to all sorts of people and is used in all sorts of ways. In fact, they believe they have created not merely a brand or a device but a whole new category. One of the main ideas that supports this notion is the emergence of the term “iPhoneography” which is used to refer to photography through an iPhone. If you think no one gives a damn about it then you’re definitely mistaken. Instagram has been voted as the number one app in the Apple App Store; accessories manufacturers invest in creating mini tripods, camera lenses and whatnots for better photo taking; photo editing apps are very much supported in the App Store; and people are starting to abandon the idea of wanting to sell used iPhone for a real camera. Seriously though, there are a lot of other smartphones out there that could make a better camera than the iPhone! Here are some suggestions.

Nokia 808 PureView

Despite being an underdog (somehow) in the smartphones arena, Nokia has attempted many times to outstage the iPhone4S by playing its strengths and amplifying them. Take the Nokia N8 for example. It’s been hailed as one of the best camera phones in the market before the PureView release. Nokia knows that their strength lies in the camera and the phone’s durability which was why they came up with this smartphone which is said to be the Symbian “Game Changer.” What would make you want to sell used iPhone 4S right now is that its 8MP iSight camera is no match compared to the Nokia 808’S 41mp. It also has a 0.3MP front camera (just like the iPhone 4S) and also has flash for taking pictures and videos at 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. Its AMOLED 4-inch screen is another iPhone 4S challenger though the Apple smartphone’s Retina display at 328ppi did topple Nokia 808’s 183ppi. One more thing that photographers would probably love most about this smartphone is that it has Micro HDMI slots which make it easier to transfer photos to your laptop.

HTC Rezound

Another smartphone that a photo-loving Instagrammer could try after making money when they sell used iPhone is the HTC Rezound. It’s got a lot of cool points over the iPhone 4S not only in the camera department but in the multimedia capabilities in general. While both smartphones have 8MP cameras and flash capabilities, HTC’s 2MP front cameras are far better than the iPhone’s grumbling 0.3MP FaceTime. The graphics and photos you take also look better on a Super LCD 4.3 inch screen than the iPhone 4S’ 3.5 inch screen. Oh, and have I mentioned than HTC Rezound’s screen looks glorious at 340ppi? Yeah your iPhone 4S’ Retina display is only 328ppi, brother. Go ahead and sell an iPhone. I’m pretty sure your food photographs would look yummier with a better smartphone.
